Registration: This year, it is not necessary to register for Awana. If your child is already in our ROLF database, you simply need to check him/her in at one of the check-in stations when you bring your child.
Security Procedures: Parents of all children must check-in theor children when arriving for services. When arriving, find a kiosk with a check-in attendant. There will be two 'receipts' that are printed out; one to be placed on the child's shirt and the other for the parents to keep. At the end of the evening, parents must return to pick-up their children, following the regular check in/check out procedures. IN ORDER FOR A CHILD TO BE RELEASED FORM CLASS, THE PARENT MUST HAVE THE RECEIPT THAT MATCHES THEIR CHILD'S NAMETAG.
If you see your child's number displayed on the big screen on either side of the sanctuary (with a dash indicating where the child is located), please return to the Awana registration area as soon as possible. We will notify parents when a child is sick or fussy, or in rare instances, for disciplinary reasons. Children must be picked up by their parent at the conclusion of evening services. PARENTS MUST STAY IN THE CHURCH BUILDING DURING AWANA. NO CHILD WILL BE PERMITTED IN THE HALLWAYS WITHOUT LEADER SUPERVISION OR PERMISSION.
Costs: The Awana ministry does its best to keep costs to a minimum, however there are a few costs associated when your child participates in Awana - as outlined below. You can purchase uniforms and handbooks online or at the Awana registration table. Uniforms and workbooks may also be purchased with SPY Credits.
- Puggles - Shirt $10.
- Cubbies - Vest $10., Handbook $8.
- Sparks - Vest $10. or 600 SPY Credits, Handbook $9. or 500 SPY Credits
- T&T - TShirt $13. or 800 SPY Credits, Handbook $8. or 400 SPY Credits
- Awana Bags $6.
Please do not let finances stand in the way of your child participating in Awana. If there is a financial need, please talk to Pastor Frank Toole and we will work with you so your child may continue to participate in Awana.
What to Bring & Wear to Awana
Your child should bring their Bible and handbook every week. Each child should also wear their uniform and shoes appropriate for running. Please no flip flops, heels or sandals. Their clothing should be comfortable, allowing your child to fully participate in the evening's activities.
Your child should not bring other items that may distract them or others around them. If your child does bring something not pertaining to Awana, they will be asked to put it way and keep it out of sight until they leave. If these items are not appropriately put away, the leader will confiscate that item until the end of the Awana club night.
Your child (Sparks & T&T) will receive 20 SPY Credits at the end of each Awana evening if they wear their uniform & nametag and bring their Bible & handbook. They can also receive extgra SPY Credits throughout the evening for good behavior and participation. They will be given an opportunity twice during the Awana year to go to the "Gadget Gear" store and redeem their SPY Credits for cool stuff! The "Gadget Gear" store is also open during services the last Sunday of every month.
Offering
Each night of Awana, kids will be given the opportunity to participate in giving an offering. This offering will go toward sponsoring our Compassion International child, Exidon.
Discipline-While participating in Awana each week, there are two main 'counts' used:
- 5 Count: This is used to bring the group to order. as the leader counts to 5 the children should become quiet and still.
- 3 Count: This is used for individual discipline issues. If the child has been asked to change/correct a behavior but they continue, they are given a 1 count by the leaders - and their action is discussed so they can understand why. If the child continues to misbehave or is disruptive, they will receive a 2 and will be dismissed from class. They will now sit down with the Awana Commander to discuss their behavior, and will remian out of class for the balance of the evening. If their behavior does not change, they will be given a 3 count - at which point the parent will be notified, the child will be removed from the Awana activities and they will not be allowed to return to Awana next week.
Your Awana leaders realize that there are many family situations that may affect a child's behavior. we encourage you to let your child's Awana leaders know if there is any situation that may help us in ministering to your child. This helps the leaders to minister to the child rather than viewing a situation or action as a discipline problem.
Parental Involvement: We highly encourage you as a parent or guardian to become actively involved in your child's Scripture memorization for Awana. Please set aside time each week to work with your child or have them work independently on learning their verses. This will play a large part in determining their success in the Awana program. your involvment is also needed to ensure that your child comes to Awana prepared each week with their needed supplies. At the end of the Awana year, kids who finished a book during the year will be recognized in the sanctuary and will receive a special award. If a child starts a book in September, they will need to recite approximately 2 sections per week in order to finish their book by May.
Awana Grand Prix: Our Grand Prix will be held in the Spring. Dates, times and costs to be announced! Awana clubbers and parents will be able to build and design their own cars which will compete in an exciting race, called the Grand Prix.
